Apalling Advert

A Town Crier reminded me that the local jewish rag almost made me vomit onto my shabbos table Friday night. This is the the same paper I wrote about that refused to take a stand against a recalcitrant husband. There was an ad on page three of the paper that was so disgusting that I literally had trouble believing my eyes. The text read:
Jews are once again being targeted by a racist policy that evokes memories of past persecutions. Shamefully, this time it is the policy of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the Israeli government.

The expulsion of Jews from Gaza is morally repugnant, the destruction of Jewish cemeteries and synagogues unspeakable. The use of armed soldiers to implement this policy, with its echoes of Jewish deportations throughout history, should shock and appall Jews everywhere. The uniform of the soldiers is irrelevant, and creating territories that are Judenrein is reprehensible no matter where, no matter when and no matter by whom. Would the expulsion of Jews from parts of the United States be tolerated? Jews have a moral right to live freely as Jews wherever they choose, whether in Poland, Cleveland or their ancestral homeland.

It comes as no surprise that a world that stood by silently as six million Jews were slaughtered is demanding the expulsion of Jews as a concession to Arab terror. We call on the Prime Minister of Israel to stop this appalling, racist expulsion.

Can you believe this crap?

I am not saying your wrong on the agunah issue,BUT there are 2 sides to every story.I worked in a Beis Din and a fellow came in to give a GET,the wife was all giddy and relaxed, the husband was overtly nervous and uncomfortable. The sofer informed me,that the GET had to be"coerced" from the fellow.Later I found out he was beaten, and that he claimed to be holding the Get in hopes of a better child custody agreement then she was offering.Who was lying,I don't know 1 thing I do know she got married 95 days from the day she got her get(halacha requires 3 month break)6 months from when she first asked for one(HMMMM)
And as far as calling the israeli goverments policies gestapo like,I have to agree the are.And would you not say after disengagement Gush Katif will be Judenrien? ,just callen 'em like I sees 'em.

Amshinover, which policies are you callgin gestapo like? do you know what you are talking about either way?
Are people being taken out of their homes to be killed? or are they being taken from their homes and being given new ones and compensation?
Are they being taken out by peopel who hate them?
or by people who hope that they are doing something to help protect the greater clal for the long run and help preserve the jewish homeland and give them homes elswhere in the jewish homeland?
no excuse.

But back to the point, even if the disengagement makes Gaza "judenrein", it doesn't make using the holocaust imagery anything less then disgusting. Come on, you seem like an intelligent guy, Amshinover. If the "gestapo" Israeli Government starts evacuating the Jews from Gaza on cattle cars to camps, then we'll talk. The evacuees from Yamit were up in arms in 1982 as well, but they all (b"h) lived to see another day.

You are not incorrect, but jews like to make statements in this fashion (poetic license?)to arouse anger, and ill/unsettling feelings. In the end though disengagement will bring no peace, tomorrow is coming and she brings hell's fury with her.

Jews have rights. They also have brains. And the generals and the politicians hhave both decided that leaving Gaza is the smart thing to do. Appealing to "rights" is stupid.

Also, stupid is the mention of the word "racism." Do the authors really think the expulsion of Jews is based on rasicism? Does rascim really make those people weep? Or do they think using the word "racist" -however inapprorpiate- sia sure fire way to collect liberal suoport?
